This track was done live with an Open Labs "Hot Rodded" Miko hosting VST's in Reaper. I'm using Battery 3 for all samples and the synth in the breakdown is NI Massive. The VST looper is Mobius controlled by the Akai LPD8. For drums samples I'm using one kick, snare, closed hat, open hat, and ride triggered from the pads on the Miko. I have modified the pads on the Miko to be ultra sensitive! The Rhoads is one sample pitched over 2 notes. The french horn is one sample pitched over 4 notes. The harp is one sample is pitched over 3 notes. On this track I've got the Mobius looper setup to record, overdub and reset and is controlled by the Akai LPD8 via cc messages. Battery 3 is mapped to rotary controllers on the Miko controlling bit rate, saturation, filter/eq, reverb. The delay in Battery 3 is mapped to the the cross fader on the Miko. In the breakdown I'm using the pitch wheel to bend the pitch down on each note. The video was shot using a MacBook with the sound going direct from the Miko's outs. • @DJOHMAGA Do u have any tips/technique advice for keyboard jamming over a beat

  • @gumdrops27 Just be soulful and make it funky! There's really no rules...

  • @DJOHMAGA I already have been doing looping for a few weeks now i just needed some pointers. Lol the funny thing is that a keyboard and pads really is my setup. I have an axiom 61 and occasionally i use a nanopad but i generally like to just use one controller at a time.

  • @gumdrops27 It sounds like your ready to go, just practice and get to know your sound sets well. Don't be afraid to take some chances!!!

  • @DJOHMAGA Do u have any tips for live looping? Things I can do to keep me busy I dont look like im just listening to my laptop lol. I want to perform at school and for some reason im super self concious of how busy i am on stage so i often just screw with fx knobs to look interesting :p

  • @gumdrops27 Mobius, Gibson Echo Plex Digital Pro or Boss RC 50 are good places to start for loopers. It depends on what works for your setup. Mine is computer based so Mobius makes the most sense for me because it's software based. Live I would start with a set of pads and a midi keyboard, then practice a lot!!!! Twisting knobs and grooving is cool too. I think if your busy making music your alright... Just let it all out you never know what it might give back....
