Eugene is just doing what thew liberals have been doing for some time, leaving the Constitution, catering to the losers of the world and making the USA continue to look stupid in the eyes of the world...I think I will pass on relocating to a town that stands for nothing....

I think it is time that Oregon, Washington, and California left the union and joined with the world. The only problem is that the world is run mostly by despots and murderous dictators and would eat them alive. Maybe they could join Canada, except that Canada wouldn't have them. Maybe start their own country and become the drug capital of the Americas. Someone said at the first congress that "we must all hang together, or we will surely hang separately". I think it is time for them to leave.

the USNAVY SEALs pledge is a profound commitment to their beliefs for protecting their country - i am sure that they would be proud to recite this pledge in multiples.. maybe these states should take a page from their book .. GBoss Aussie fan

This news story wasted two minutes of my life. Why does it matter? They could let those who want to say it, say it, and those who don't can sit down in respectful silence.

@Amtrak507 How is not reciting the pledge of allegiance humiliating to anyone? I don't understand your logic. It's one thing if they suck at doing their job, but whether or not they pledge allegiance is probably the last thing I would worry about. If you HAD to say it, you should only have to say it once. The word "pledge" basically means "to promise" so I would think that unless you committed treason, you haven't broken that promise, so why say it over and over?

It was turned into a prayer when "under God" was added. Government should not be endorsing any religion or diety. It should be banned until it is reverted back to it's original state.

Don't forget that the pledge was written by a socialist

@Amtrak507 Haha! You're so brainwashed. It's pointless to say the pledge, it brings about too much controversy with the "under God" in there (which wasn't even in the original pledge) and to me it's annoying to have to say. I think voting to not say the pledge before every meeting is a down-to-earth move. Why say it EVERY time? I don't get why everyone makes such a huge deal out of something as trivial as a patriotic poem..

@lasoogneypubes ok bin laden

@Amtrak507 I don't think you should have to say the pledge all the time. We already did it once. Pledge=promise, and if you promise you allegiance to something once than that should be the only time you have to do it. Seriously fuck the pledge. It's fucking stupid and annoying to say, and is really a form of brainwashing. "I will not betray the USA" "I will be forever faithful to the USA" Why do kids have to say that every day before class? Forced patriotism, that's why. Fuck the pledge.
i live in Eugene, Oregon and I absolutely love this town...except for when this kind of crap happens. Our politics suck and the officials here represent us so poorly. This is humiliating to everyone who lives here and is a normal person
