Gateshead loco depot 1991

Archive general views towards Gateshead loco depot on 13th January 1991 with diesel loco classes 37, 47 and 08 on view. During steam days Gateshead was one of the main engine sheds on the east coast main line - today most of the buildings are gone and the area is now a housing estate!

Thanks. We see mainly class 66 and 67("Thunderbirds") these days. Did you know the blocks of houses on the site of Gateshead sheds are named after steam locos that were once shedded there? e.g. Trigo House,Tranquil Court, Bittern Close. Nice! I hope to put more stuff from the 80s/90s up soon. In the meantime check out my "InterCity 125 1989/90"

my late dad n brother worked here many years i used to go to sheds all time as a kid . bob n brian hutchinson [tool vans team what a great bunch of lads ] harry -arnie- alax - geordie - russel - tony - and many others . best tool van team in england with some cracking drivers i new them all .

Thanks for that info, I see 66 67 too as I live on ECL {only 20 metres off it} Would love to see a 37 come growling along.
