Iv have a Cairn x and I am a member of a Cairn Terrier forum. For grooming you need to check the type of fur your cairn has, apparently, if the hair is soft then hand stripping may not be the best.

Wrong title, this should be "How definitily not to groom a cairn terrier"

Totally agree. Hand stripping also keeps them smelling nice!

THIS IS NOT HOW YOU GROOM A CAIRN. HAND STRIPPED ONLY!

This is a haircut meant for a Yorkie or a Schnauzer...NOT a Cairn.
Sorry to say this, but this is completely the wrong way to groom a Cairn Terrier's coat . The groomer is cutting the coat, and it should be hand stripped. The Cairn's coat will pull away (old dead hair). If it isn't done that way, the old hair will stay within the coat and can cause problems, matting and skin disease, as well as making the Cairn very uncomfortble. The Cairn has two coats, under needs stripping. There are other videos and many books about hand stripping, check them out.
