no she wasn't a supporting either. This is definitely a lead performance. One of the most iconic female lead performances ever. That was a weak year and looking at the nominees it's no wonder Diane won. And it's cool the academy went for a film and performance like this. Wish they would lighten up more often. People don't realize this type of acting making it look so natural and be funny at the same time is the hardest.

sleepwalking? What the hell? The endearingly energetic and nervous and sweet Annie Hall is a character that was far from sleepwalking. I think it's refreshing the Oscars awarded not only a comedic performance but a naturalistic performance. It didn't scream "Look at me I'm acting give me an Oscar" It was just very natural. Diane Keaton is underrated by some people because she makes it look so easy. Those are the actors I like.

You may have a point if you say that she didn't deserve the Oscar for LEAD ACTRESS and instead you want her SUPPORTING. But to tell that she didn't deserve the Oscar was really more than being an IDIOT. No hurt feelings but I'm saying the truth.
Go and re watch this film to see what does iot take to be a DESERVING oscar winner.
If you still can't take it, well.....
Great performance by a great actress in a great film made by a great director. there is no discussion, watch and love. simple. wonderful.

It's really one of the hardest roles to play. And she nailed it so hard!
