I stopped flying Delta in 2004 because of a similar problem. They couldn't get me out on another flight that day and wouldn't put me up in a hotel and wouldn't even give me a discount voucher for a hotel. I was a broke college student at the time so I just stayed all night in the airport. I had the same thing happen with American Airlines a bunch of years later and AA put me in a hotel for free and bumped me up to business class on a flight the next day. AA has a loyal customer now.

@TheTopBloke Bullshit. Doors close 10 minutes prior. I was a gate agent for four years in two different cities and have flown all across the Delta network. NEVER will you find a flight closed an hour prior, let alone BOARDING an hour prior.

I have had good service with most airlines and bad service with all them just the same it makes no difference what so ever anymore. the only thing I have found that works a little is just try and be nice to whom ever I am dealing with,
it helps sometimes but not every time.
