Next up was local P68 with cars for Cemex. It headed north and got its work done, led by High Hood NS (ex-SOU) GP38AC 2873 with a beautiful P5 horn and NS (ex-NW GP38AC) GP38-2 5573 with an equally nice P5 of its own! P68 charged north through Buford, its heritage horn blaring through town, and another surprise came up. This time, it was local P48, the Gainesville to Flowery Branch switcher. What it was doing south of FB, we don't know. But we do know what's coming up, and we decide to follow it. At 12:00 noon, NS P48 started up and accelerated northward with NS OLS C40-9W 9251, NS C40-9W 9426, and a good cut of loaded grain hoppers. We decided to chase...

  • Dang sorry about me in your shots.Haha that first one I could have helped, but that second one I couldn leave the tripod there someone would try to steel it. You know how Gwinnett is.Great video!LOL!

  • @RailroadExpeditions Yeah! You're OK. Just not in the P48 video! Oh well. I'm taking that shot next time. Lula/White Sulphur and Chicopee/Buford are about to get a good bit of my attention.

  • Awesome! like that spot and great catch with the OLS Leading! And that local sure did get up to speed quickly!

  • @altoonaPArailfan Thanks! Yeah Ken (Kenny, heard as P48 starts up) is one for the throttle. He came in the store (TrainMaster Models, the parking lot in the left of the scene) one day and talked to a small kid and his dad. He told the kid he'd blow the horn for him, and he sure did! Then he got those GP38-2's in notch 4 within 50 feet!

  • Great video, Chip! Love that OLS Trash-9 and the pan on the first shot. Couldn't have leveled a pan better myself.

  • @csx6900 Thanks! I didn't really know I was doing such, it was just a downgrade. I've gotten some tips from FastFlyingVirginian on better filming techniques, and I'll be able to make the most of them once I have a fluid head tripod with a bubble level. I guess I just have to credit this to a good spot and a lucky eye for leveling this dumb Manfrotto tripod...
