Tim Hartley's salon creative tutorial is a contemporary shape referencing the Firefly. The haircut begins with a low side parting on the left-hand side. A section running across the top of the head to just behind the top of the ear isolates the front top right-hand side.

Tim begins in this right hand side and angles the hair close to the surface of the skin, over-directs down and cuts a square line in just below the cheek bone. This is the balance for both side shapes. Tim disconnects approximately 3cm of hair underneath the horizontal section. Next Tim extends the line from the guide at the top of the ear. He then gradually works towards the centre back building up weight in the centre using over-direction and elevation. These diagonal sections cross over in the centre creating a slight rounded corner.

Tim then works with the connection from the top of the ear through to the disconnected underneath sections, resulting in an absolutely beautiful fall of hair through from the low side parting, gradually fading through into a white accent. The purple and the definition of the line just above the silver is simple but rich in heritage.
