I've been on mushrooms before and when your high people have bad trips or good trips , sure you hallucinate but it alters everything around you and I laugh uncontrollably. I grew up in a city where theirs a lot of drug addicts and it's a horrible place to be. Lots of crime and violence. Their are churches around the area and I'm glad people go their for comfort and to seek a positive life and change people for the better just by believing theirs a God and an afterlife. All of Christianity is based upon the use of mind-altering substances to commune with God - as is Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism. All the various Christian cults did and do use various form of ecstasy but not necessarily drugs in this communion, although the worship of Jesus or God is the worship of the mushroom. The evidence for this is overwhelming. These traditions have at their base shamanism and ritual use of mind-altering substances found world wide.
