When I hit the upload file & install button, it appears to be processing for a few seconds, then takes me to a blank screen. Any suggestions?

Can you explain a newbie what you mean by that. My website's running on my computer (using wamp) and it says the .ini file is not writable. I've read about the chmod 777, but don't know how to change permissions.
