Ollantaytambo (quechua: Ullantaytampu) is a village and Inca archaeological site in southern Peru, located approximately 60 kilometers northwest of Cusco. It is located in the district of Ollantaytambo, province of Urubamba, Cusco region. During Inca, Pachacutec conquered the region and built a village and ceremonial center. At the time of conquest served as the strength of Manco Inca Yupanqui, the Inca leader of the resistance. It is the only city in the Inca empire in Peru is still inhabited. It is now a major tourist attraction because of its Inca buildings and one of the most common starting points for the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu
