@tomkerckhove More expensive than armor I think? There's also usually more health than shields. And a dead unit can't regenerate shields to take advantage of that.

so colossi are shit vs zerglings?

@NeonRabies I believe you are correct about Archons, they have phyonic armour which receives no bonus damage. Immortals however I believe the hardened shield will negate almost all of the damage when hit with a heavy attack, the damage they take from a heavy attack is always the same while the shields are up regardless of upgrades, apparently.

@NeonRabies It is true that shields would give you more longevity under specific circumstances although in the early game the initial investment is usually too great and to add on top of that most early game units such as Zealots have more health than shields making the cheaper armour upgrade a better choice. Most Protoss players will get an early attack upgrade due to the fact that they have the micro to keep there units alive and would prefer the units not being hit to do more damage.

Gold bases were a cool idea that add an interesting dynamic to the game. If mules are the only reason they're being excluded, they need to do one of two things:
1. Tweak mules (make them cost more energy or gather less minerals)
2. Make is so that mules gather the same amount of minerals, even on gold.
Eliminating gold mineral patches altogether isn't the answer. Some of the best battles are fought for position over gold minerals.

@tomkerckhove Shields are to expensive to upgrade and usually only cover about 1/3 of a units health. It's 200/200 for lvl1, 300/300 for lvl 2 and 400/400 for lvl 3 so it's not all that effective.
