I hand-caught several juvenile Octopus (In Dana point I think?)stranded in tide-pools during the lowest tide of the year a long time ago. Needless to say I wasn't aware at the time how far, and with how great of volume they were capable of shooting ink out of water. . .

This is a very small octopus. I suppose it is a juvenile, but still - a bit of a misleading headline
-
They blend in to their environment really well.

I went to Sunrise once. One of the best dives around. Saw at least 4 GPOs with fist-size eyeballs. The first one I saw was too close, I tucked into one of the coves and looked up and it was just right there a foot away.

Just type "shark vs octopus", the shark's not a great white, it's about 4 feet long but it is a big octopus and it's pretty impressive.

how is that a giant anything. if that's a giant octopus then my toe is a giant cock.

he changes color, thats amazing. if you're following one of those things and it changes color it's a good time to get away, because it's probably mad or soemthing.

The species is a "Giant Pacific Octopus" and yes it is actually not that big compared to many in this area.
