This is graphic for some. I had my lap band taken out on Feb 1, 2010 - It was installed Feb 10, 2009. It had a leak somewhere in the band, port, or tubing. Here is my actual lapband so you can see what it looks like after it's been removed. My liver hurts REALLY bad, other than that, I am not knocking people over to get to the food. The hunger just isn't there like I thought it would be! That's a blessing.

  • I hate to break the news to you, that's not a Lap-Band, The Lap-Band is made by Allergan, what you have in your hand is a Realize Band made by Johnson & Johnson.

  • @joeventura1 The procedure and devices are the same and work in the same way, or in my case, fail in the same way.

  • @Ineedmorelives there are very specific difference. lapband.net has a lot of information you may want to read

  • @joeventura1 Never again. I'm losing weight on my own with a combination of raw foods, water fasting, and juice fasting. I did several years of research before I had my lapband put in. I'm happy that it has worked for some, but for me it was a terrible and regretful decision.

  • I agree with you. The lap-band has been a terrible mistake for me. I only lost weight during first 2 weeks post operation and I went down from 295 to 272. But never made it below 272. Now 11 months after surgery am 293 again. I've lost all hope because no water what eat I gain weight. I just want this thing removed, I've accepted the fact that I'll be fat for the rest of my life -.-

  • @TheBijouxprincess I had a ct scan and found that the doctor had taken a rather large chunk out of my liver and that was what was causing all the pain. Yeah, I got my port caught on the washing machine. My port was directly centered under my boobs and I am very short, so when I leaned over the washing machine, it got caught and hung there for a second and I about passed out. It was annoying and I'm very happy to have it out. I hope you feel the same way and are doing good. You CAN lose weight.

  • @hotmama087 I had my lap band removed 3 days ago...I also saw my band and port post surgery. I was not allowed to keep it, as it is required to be held 45 days post op for haz mat legal reasons. I guess you got yours the same day if you still had flesh on yours. My side is killing me. My liver does not hurt, there are no sensory nerves in the liver. Go back and check on what exactly was hurting. You may mean to say all tissue in your abdomen was killing you. Caught on a washer? Really?

  • @hotmama087 Probably not, but I'm not especially scared of myself.

  • I hope you washed your hands

  • @tracytalks2u It's hard not to tell someone who wants to be thin so badly to not pursue every opportunity available to them to become thin. I researched lapband as well, but there really was no information out there for me to see that lapband is the wrong choice. I am glad that there are successes out there with the lapband, but I think those people already had it in them to become thin, they just needed a little push. Lapband is a terrible decision for anyone to make.. and a miserable one. GJ!
