You will find clues about what happened to your squad mates, and play as them briefly, and likely meet them towards the end.

Yeah. You find something of your squadmates, then play as them for a brief mission.

this is no halo 3 campaign add on its a full game it takes place between 2 and 3 when chief is up in space

Yes, it takes place between 2 and 3, but as you can tell, it is Halo 3: ODST. An add on using Halo 3's engine and multiplaer.
