they are a part of "western culture" now. More than 100 people died because of the violent muslim response to these Cartoons, yet they are on wikipedia and on youtube and now also on my channel.
if we can keep these Cartoons available, maybe the muslims will leave South Park alone. so consider mirroring these.
the original upload of this video is still online:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wu5e50zrPA and it has been uploaded on may 27, 2007.

It would be a step forward in terms of reduced violence.
But the posted material represents a step backwards in that it is a promulgation of bogoted material.
Alas, the two steps do not cancel each other out.

oh, thats great that we can agree on this basic point, its an important point and i wasnt aware that we are in agreement here. so you strongly disagree with the content and with my reasons for posting them, but you agree that i have a right to post them. thats great. now if all muslims could agree with this, accept that this material is out there, not like it, but not get violent about it and not try to censor it, then this problem would be out of the way, it would be progress.

Firstly, nothing is absolute. Not even free speech.
Secondly, I did not say you had no right to post the cartoons. I did not approve of your reasons for posting them, but I did not say you had no right.

Several of the cartoons are clearly bigoted. It is obvious on its face.
A barbie doll is not inherently bigoted.
I would have no problem with your posting barbie dolls, though I would question your taste.

@Cimbolic
because you keep hammering the issue of these cartoons being "bigoted"... muslims decided this, not humanity as a whole. and i uploaded these because these got the most violent response from muslims, the fundamentalists have chosen these cartoons. this is what they want to remove from freedom of speech first, so this is where i need to pick up. if you would have decided to kill people over barbie dolls and decided that these need to be banned, people would re-post barbie dolls.

we have a right to say everything, a right to express everything in cartoons or books or in public speech. you want to take out the picture of muhammad. but the angry fundamentalists will stay angry, next thing they will complain about is criticism of islam in general. they actively look for stuff that offends them. so posting bigoted material everywhere is exactly the right response, the fundies will attack this first, and normal criticism of islam is safer for everyone.

I never said any of us should give up the right to freedom of speech.
What I am saying is that you have allowed the extremists to suck you into giving them exactly what they want: a religious conflict.
There are many ways to stand up for free speech without promulgating bigoted material.

i dont hate muslims. but i do hate people that want to destroy my right to freedom of speech. the battle would not be between islam and those that believe in freedom of speech, but between those fundamentalists that want to destroy freedom of speech and those that believe in it. all i want to say is that you should never make the mistake and believe that we will give up freedom of speech without fighting, thats really all i have to say about this.
