Sheikh Haitham warns against the growing trend among students of knowledge to pronounce takfeer (disbelief) on Muslims without an adequate knowledge of the principles of the shariah, and without an adequate appreciation of difference of opinion.

Key Issues:

- Growing trend among students of knowledge to pronounce takfeer (disbelief) on Muslims based on their own assumptions.
- Lack of appreciation of other people's opinions when they differ from our own.
- Example of a person praying after wiping over the socks while others believe this to be invalid.
- When differences of opinion occur choosing the scenario which offers the best conclusion for all involved.
- Difference of opinion not being considered when the opinion is shaadh (very rare or odd opinion).
- History of the Takfeer movement in Egypt.
Characteristics of the Takfeer movement in Saudi Arabia.
- Example of a Hanafi praying behind a Hanbali Imam who did not renew his wudhu after eating camel meat.

  • This applies to the kafir whose kufr is blatant, not when there is differences among the scholars. Shaykh Abdullah Azzam said this to someone who made takfeer of the Ikhwan: Come, let me tell you: ash-Shafii and Ahmad bin Hambal differed over the disbelief of the one who abandons the prayer out of laziness. ash-Shafii said that he is not a disbeliever, and Ahmad said he is a disbeliever, and then they debated over it, with none of them declaring the other to be a disbeliever.

  • Good clarification! thumbs up

  • @itaqullah

you must learn the deference betwen asl ad-deen and usu ad-deen, one who make mistake in tawheed, kufr bit-taghout, bara'atu mina shirk and mushrikeen... is not like someone who make mistake in mas'ail from usul ad-deen like about salah, zakah, wrong interpretation about Allah s.w.t. atributes like ash'aris and maturidis have made...

  • sws"Stop that, dont join sjeitan against your brother, because as far i know he loves Allah and His Messeneger"

SubhanAllah, this is Sahih Hadith, and gives a glimp of the compasion of our beloved Messenger Moehammad sws, against one who was punished manny times for drinking, but sws said "He loves Allah and His Messenger!!

So thats a clear proof we can not judge one another on 1 act and put takfeer on a brother or sister!

  • MachAllah reading,@itaqullah,you are corect, today most of the sholars say not praying out of lazinnes is an act of disbelief, while still in the hart he loves Allah and his Messenger.

Do you know the Hadith about the Sahaba they called him Hamaar(donkey),he used to drink a lot, till once again he was brought before the Messenger sws to get punished for drinking, when some Sahaba started to curse him,the messenger sws said "Stop that, dont join sjeitan against your brother...

  • this doesnt allows you too make takfir on another muslim , who may commit major sins.

you could call him FASIQ ( those who knowingly do sins)...

Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamah in Afghanistan

  • Very beneficial mashaAllah

  • wow

this sounds so complicated and a kufr sounds widespread. e.g doing dua as a congregation is wat bidaa worse then major sin which is kufr, after all in my opinion its a dua, eg tarawee were not read by the prophet as a congregation is this also bidaa, uusing mikes to do athaan is this bidaa i personally think its complicated. i would love to hear some of u bothers and sisters views, also if u dont denounce a kafir u too r a kafir, i find that shocking, i personally dont like to judge

  • if you dont call a kafir a kafir you are yourself a kafir.
