simon is just being too simple here. being branded did not mean they were NOW beasts of burden, it just marked ownership. they had been beasts of burden for a long time, but were owned by their african conquerers who sold them off,. there is just NO way that one can believe for a minute that whitey came to africa and started catching great african warriors and making them slaves, that is idiotic at best. no these people already had a slave mentality taught to them by their conquerers,
