How To Loosen Mazda Rotary Flywheel Nut

How a real man loosens the flywheel nut on a Mazda rotary engine. *wink* These nuts are often torqued to above 300 FT-LBs and secured with LocTite.

Yep, rotary is the only way to go. The block weighs under 200 LBs and right from the factory won't break a sweat at making 400HP with a turbo upgrade and supporting systems (fuel, intercooler and EMS).

Well eventually when I do get my own car I would put so many mods in it that it wouldn't be a car anymore... More like a spaceship. Like the car in back to the future! LOL!

The way things are going, it's probably more realistic to imagine an EV future, not a rotary future, but I do like these rotarys though.

BTW When did you start getting involved with Mazdas/Rotarys?

See ya mate!

Yep, there is no question that battery EVs are the future. Anyone who says otherwise just doesn't have a clue, and anyone who suggests hydrogen *really* doesn't have a clue.

I started with the rotary when I was 19 and found an RX-7 in the back of a used car lot while I was looking for 300ZXs (it's a bit of a story). I had always liked the RX-7 so I bought it. The rest is history, as they say.

Cool. I doubt hydrogen cars will make it. They are overly complicated for the job and are probably more dangerous than a petrol/diesel powered vehicle. The battery technology needs to get better, and cheaper. If you've heard of Tesla Cars then you would know that even if you pay in excess of $100,000 you will not get the same milage of an ordinary car. However that shortcomming is probably knocked to the side since the shear acceleration and good looks of those cars might seem to some, a bargain
