This doesn't explain why citizens NEED military weaponry

I believe that citizens have a right to handguns and hunting weapons, but there is no reason for people to have military weapons.

Except for the fact that the 2nd Amendment allows both individuals and militias to possess tactical weapons for self-defense and defense of the country.

This would include military weapons, not all military weapons obviously, but assault rifles would be the equivalent to the standard issue military weapons of the time.

I'd say that assault rifles are probably the most versatile weapon you can possibly have. What you see in TV and movies doesn't accurately depict the utility of them.

Assault rifle can be used for hunting (depending on the caliber) of various game, target shooting, self-defense, and recreation. It can take the role of a close-range gun in self defense, and act as a medium to long range weapon for varmints to medium/large size game.

What you see in movies, of people spraying for several minutes with the same clip, hosing down people, that has no basis in reality. Not only are 99.999% of assault rifles in the US only semi-automatic, but handguns and shotguns are responsible for WAY, WAY more crime and gun violence. It makes no sense whatsoever to take away assault rifles. The arguments for doing such a thing always stem from 100% ignorance of the facts.

A well armed "society" provides a greater defense in support of military and police, which is a consideration foreign radicals take into account, and has protected us from invasion. Military and Police should have no more of a right to weapons than citizens do, they just have bigger budgets to allow them better toys. I did not fight for my country, for citizens without a backbone, to allow there rights to be taken away. This is evident in states such as CA, IL, NY, &NJ as well as DC. Stand Up!

@teepsterr If you don't want an assault weapon...don't buy one. Try and come take mine, well now that is entirely different story. It's liberals like yourself that are much more dangerous with your "if I don't like it, no one is allowed to do it". How is it exactly that you would plan to enforce your choices for us?
