Very good point. Although much conjecture exists about the origin of Amazing Grace, the lyrics are certainly John Newton's. The melody which we presently sing with Newton's lyrics springs from the early 19th century South in the U.S., first appearing in documented form with Newton's original lyrics in a Southern Baptist Hymnal dating from the 1830's. Thanks for the heads up.

An Englishman, John Newton wrote the hymn 'Amazing Grace' around 1772.
It pretty nearly captures the 'core' of the Christian Faith. Hayley captures magnificently the spirit of the hymn.
