  • Correct Welsh spelling on the loco!

  • If only 1 or 2 more of that fine class of engine had been kept

  • Great footage! You can hear the clang of slightly worn bearings, the valve timing slightly off and you can even make out the mineral stains on the boiler from leaking fittings. - Truly a workhorse!

None of which occurs with a restored loco today!

  • Thanks for posting Hillyfields. 5*

I love stuff like this. I've faved this, Blea Moor and Ais Gill 1967 too.

  • Oh ok, thanks for the explanation!

  • The original BR Nameplates read Owen Glendower, the English spelling. The Welsh spelling is "Owain Glyndwyr" and that is what you see in this video which is not a nameplate but a painted on name because the original nameplates had been removed.

  • Thanks for posting this, great to see, but it's Owain not Owen.

  • Spotted this locomotive many times on the WCML back in the day. I agree about the nameplates but still sad to see them removed. A good piece of video clip. 789959.

  • I love the repaint post-plate by someone with the correct Welsh spelling!
