Yes Christians did play a huge part in abolition. Benjamin Rush who helped start the sunday school movement in America simultaneously started the first anolitionist society in America. The evangelicals of the great awakening preached fervently against slavery it was the abortion of their day. It's sad that people today think that the only things Christians did in history was kill in the Cruscades and burn witches in Salem. Is it somehow wrong to say Christians did good things in history?
I'm 53 and I didn't know anything about this man until a few months ago. Our pastor has been recommending the book and I will order it tonite!
Isn't it amazing what you never hear about in our culture?
