The Museums Mapping Initiatives (http://www.ushmm.org/googleearth) use tools such as Google Earth and animated maps to enable citizens to understand Holocaust history and bear witness to current threats of genocide across the globe.
In this segment, the panelists answer questions from the media.
Crisis in Darfur enables people to visualize and better understand the genocide unfolding in Darfur. The Museum has assembled photographs, data and eyewitness testimony for the first time as a Global Awareness layer in Google Earth. High-resolution satellite imagery in Google Earth enables users to zoom into the region to view more than 3,300 damaged and destroyed villages, providing compelling evidence of the scope and nature of the brutal Sudanese government-backed campaign targeting civilians in Darfur.
