Would be interesting to see how a large load acts on that setup, those inverters are normally rated for things like laptops to charge effectively

since the pocket pc and amplified speakers have adapters that change it back to dc again, why not skip the inverter?
A dc-dc eg cigarette lighter adapter would be much more effecient than changing dc-ac-dc again.
