The band scene is better in the major cities, but in Cairns there are a few who stand, just not as much as Tower of Power. I have been responsible for promoting many overseas big names in Cairns over many years: Billy Cobham, Randy Brecker, AC/DC, Dire Straits, Stevie Wonder, Dave Weckl, Mike Stern, Steve Smith, Dennis Chambers, Virgil Donati, too many to mention...it just doesn't happen each week...much as we would like to!

What a pity you don't live in Cairns Australia. I have at least 3 students who play like this, as well as myself, but there's just no funky players here here to play with.
