My pawpaw lived on Roll Over Landing at the end of Pecan Island. I walked down the landing from the hwy with my gun and I was just at awe with everything. I had to tell him he had nothing left. He died sept. 1 2009. I miss him and the camp.
I remember driving from sulphur la where i was living to orange tx where my parents live and all along i-10 almost every tree rooted or snapped in half.
Awesome pics. It is truly amazing how many people have forgotten what you folks went through. It is also very sad that our nation has not stepped up to help you in your time of need. You are still in our hearts and prayers.

This vid shows how the mass media only focuses
on sensationalism. Very little of this damage was ever shown to the public. All of the people residing here had their lives turned up-side-down just as bad as the Katrina victims.

I agree. Hurricane Rita devasted SWLA yet it seems to be the "forgotten" storm.
