My contract just expired , i have a iphone 3g , and didnt want the 3gs as its same phone so went for this and boy am i glad , makes the iphonelook little dated now.
Love them both though but i use the pre alot more.

Yes there is a built in mic in the headphones. There is no foam pads on them though, I find them very uncomfortable.
Build Quality for me is pretty good, mostly very solid. Some small movement but nothing major. I am very impressed with the device. I will be posting my review tonight. Check back then.
