  • It's hard to not learn anything from reading Guthrie. His introduction is very good, especially for those who are new to new testament studies.

I've read Piper's book on Wright, but not the other ones you mentioned on the NPP. Even as Piper has implicitly and indirectly admitted, the NPP is quite misunderstood. He described it as "confusing" but not heretical. I couldn't agree more. The NPP *is* confusing, because it brings us into a world outside of our tradition.

    In all, cool stuff!

  • @TheFunkyTheist The reason it is confusing is because the proponents disagree on a bunch of factors so there is no systematic NPP theology yet. Maybe there will be a NPP church and official creed. Wright can be the pope. : P

  • Thanks keith! Hey is there anyway we can talk on skype, I would like to converse with you on RC and as well I am starting to considering reformed and would like to talk to someone about it. PM your skype name or which ever messenger you use. God bless.

  • @xchampx That's a really good one!!

  • Great books. Thanks for the info. Right now I am reading The Jesus Legend by Paul Rhodes Eddy and Gregory A. Boyd. Great scholarly read.

  • @KeithTruth HAHA. Well, I'm not a fan of Sanders' version of the new perspective. I follow Wright's because, well he's got the wright one. lol

  • @KeithTruth Ah ok thanks for the info. I'm sure a hardbound copy of it is worth it even if it's online :) sometimes reading off a computer screen your eyes get tired of very quickly especially if you have to do that a lot

  • @KeithTruth oh, totally! there are those who are going to be talking about Santa though, and I think it would be good to explain to the kids where the idea of Santa comes from, so that they know how to deal with what everyone is saying, you know what I mean? I guess that's akin to learning about Islam in order to see that it is darkness

  • @krononomikon I would take santa out of the whole situation and just keep it about Christ instead. Then enjoy get togethers, hymns, presents yes.

  • @KeithTruth Just sing the hymns to Christ and don't lie to your children, but if you tell them about Santa Claus, tell them first about Saint Nicholas, who gave away his inheritance? :D
