@Caleidus What does the gears of italian tanks have to do with the actions of the Italian troops?
"prefering the total annihilation rather than surrendering" hey?So what were the 27,000 Italian troops doing at Tobruk? Thats right, surrendering to the Australians and not just surrendering but actually running towards the Aussies to surrender. And on what basis do you base your comment "denigratory campaign based on groundless facts" on? Show an example.

@OzisGodscountry Eheh, if u want I can also tell you the joke about the gears in the italian tanks. Unfortunately for u italian para and italian armoured forces were among the bravest soldiers seen in all WWII, prefering the total annihilation rather than surrendering.I told that yours is just a coward denigratory campaign based on groundless facts."All I want to know is if the british army wants to surrender:YES or NOT? The answer was YES. This is was (not) a joke from General Yamashita, eheh

@Caleidus I have never mentioned Italy's resolve at El Al. I was refering to their meek surrender at Tobruk with their easy surrender being a bit of a joke amongst Australian troops. One popular joke was this-
A captured Italian parachutist is conversing with Australian troops
A- You just came from that big plane that flew over?
I-Yes, big new plane that carries 50 troops but only one parachutist
A-Only One? What are the other 49 people for?
I-To push the parachutist out

@OzisGodscountry at El Alamein, the 6000 lions of Folgore Division were under attack from 50 000 supported by RAF and 400 cannons of UK Artillery. After 11 days of battle British have failed to break through in the Italian sector. Only 200 italians survived. I could remember u countless episodes like this one about italians bravery, yet is never enough. A people can be defeated in war but not humiliated through an infamous cultural operation as brit and allies intentionally did against us.

@Caleidus The Allies had hardly any tanks during Compass. And the same troops who were outnumbered when they took Tobruk then defended with the help of minimal reinforcements to hold Tobruk for 7 months against the might of Rommels might. As far as aircraft you guys had more than twice the number of planes and 4 times as many troops vastly superior artillery.Remember the problems you guys had with tanks the allies had to deal with against the Panzers.Which we did
-
@OzisGodscountry During "Compass", the Italian army was not mechanized and it was equipped with only few bad tankettes against the British Matilda and Cruiser Mk III: so, the Italian 10th Army was easily routed. U had Matilda and cruiser italians the M11/39 which was not a tank, it was nothing, brit had jeeps with heavy guns on it, italians just legs. Brit had battleship firing with 381 30 miles away. Italians had only obsolete aircrafts. Not difficult to win

@Caleidus Conditions they were in? The Italians lost Tobruk in two days getting 27,000 Italian soldiers captured.Australians held the same place with the same defences and in the same heat with hardly any water for 7 months then handed control over to the british. So dont give me that excuse. What would the Autralians done? The same thing they did for 7 months, tough it out. With Singapore the situation was entirely different.Innocent civilians were being killed even massacred in cold blood.
-
@OzisGodscountry So, let me understand. If Australians and brit surrender despite outnumbering their enemies they are heroes while if it happens to italian they are cowards? Don't be offensive to italian soldiers and realize in what conditions they were. I went in the desert and if you have to run or walk without water you are dead in 1 hour. What do u think the staunch australians would have done? Your surrender in Singapore was far more shameful, but none remember it !!!
-
@Caleidus You are talking about a battle that didnt involve Australians. What happened when the Australians attacked the Italians to take Tobruk initially? It was taken in two days capturing 27000 Italians,208 guns and 23 tanks and only lost 49 killed and 306 wounded.Or Bardia ,when the weight of surrendering had been so great that at one point he told a mass of them "Go away We havent got time for you, come back in the morning" And they did!!!! lol
"German and italian arsenal included 96000 troops 585 tanks" impressive force, indeed.
I wonder though why it is not mentioned that the axis forces were outnumbered more than 2 to 1 as the british had nearly 200000 men and over 1000 tanks...
Well propaganda i guess...
