Poi Lesson 22 pt 1 - Butterfly Crossers

Butterfly Crossers

Lesson Type: Intermediate

Alternative names: Butterfly huggies, hugs, straight jackets (incorrect), butterfly wings (gay).

Prerequisites: Thread the Needle and variations.

This move is a great stepping stone into the essential area of "crossers". Crossers are essentially another Reel movement, as the poi alternate from in front to behind in a wall-plane, but the arms are crossed. Learning this move and the other crosser variations trains you to control the poi with your arms on the opposite sides of your body, leading to some really nifty variations in the future and granting you even more freedom still with your poi.
With my wonderful step-by-step method of teaching crossers, you should pick these up in no time, but as usual, if you have any troubles or questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

@Metallicrazy I'm not a great, and yeah, I peg myself in the face every now and then. It happens more often when I'm doing a tutorial, because I'm focusing on what I'm saying and what I look like to the camera, rather than where the poi are.

@HoopingSarahSunshine They're same-direction, split-time, 4 petal anti-spin wallplane flowers with a vertical linear extension through the middle... uh, forget that, just look for a video on "wallplane flowers" or "wallplane antispin flowers" and you should find something helpful. Good luck!
