No dude you are the one who needs therapy and a sugar tit. Mark Shuttleworth is a genius. And open source does not mean it is not commercially viable. It does not mean it is not protected. It is copy-lefted. Which means i can alter it for my own use or make it better and send it out. I cannot alter the original program or claim it as my own. I can use the source code and make a new improved version and claim the changes. Which makes for Better software. And everything else. A better mousetrap?

The strong side of Windows is that a monkey can use it.

The strong side of Linux is that a human can make good use of it.

Ubuntu is not the best Linux distribution, but it's still way more powerful than Windows - first because it's open source, second because it's Unix-like. MacOS is good on Apple hardware, but only if you agree to the proprietary OS limitations.

@canape256 I have been a Windows user for years. And then, the viruses hit. It was very easy to leave Windows after a trial period with Ubuntu. On top of that, professionals from India, ATT Technical support, and my high school where they teach AP Computer Science, all recommended Linux. They update it every 6 months. There have been NO viruses, and it's free. You don't need to pay for a firewall with Ubuntu. On top of that, Microsoft came out and said "Linux is a worthy competitor".

@vvvlladdd Hmm, I started looking into it but didn't find anything conclusive on where one draws the line between OS and Distro. Personally I wouldn't call Ubuntu an OS in itself as I would call it an distribution of the GNU OS with the Linux kernel + other software.
