Oscar Peterson along with Martin Drew and Niels Henning Orsted Pederson play Nigerian Marketplace at the Kool Jazz Festival in NYC on 7/1/82. For my money, one of the best piano performances ever. Check out the 2nd half of this song for out of this world piano!!

Or...IS the bassist actually NHOP after all? Looks like someone else. Sounds similar, but "flowier," at least in this version, than the recorded NHOP version. I'm confused!

Who IS this bassist? I like (love) his version of this tune better than NHOP's (Niels-Henning Orsted Pedersen). Much better. Sounds like a piccolo bass. But it's not. Is it? I'm not a bass player.. So help me out, someone!

It's a fabulous performance, but Montreaux '77 for me is Oscars greatest recorded gig I've heard, with Ray Brown AND Niels Pederson at the same time! It's a bassists' dream!
