Review of Ubuntu Studio 11.04 Natty Narwhal Final Release. Ideal for video, graphic, and multimedia enthusiasts as well as professionals. They have provided a large selection of open source sound and video editing programs pre-installed on the system, including: Gimp, Inkscape, Blender, Kino, and Openshot.

Comes on a DVD sized ISO. The installer allows you to select which groups of packages you want installed.

As an added bonus you get a Gnome based version of Ubuntu without Unity.

Packages to make it more like Ubuntu: light-themes, ubuntu-wallpapers

  • Why is yours GNOME and mine is XFCE

  • @pd3331 Ubuntu Studio 11.04 was GNOME based, whereas Studio 11.10 is XFCE based.

  • Any way to convert recorded sessions into mp3?

  • @Kingddd333 Theres an app called SoundConverter (or SoundKonverter for KDE) which can convert video / audio into MP3. Is that what you're after?

  • what programs are using for making screen casting ?

  • @quidsup Thanks I did this and got GNOME, Thanks

  • @quidsup Well, maybe. It's to convert qtractor sessions, into a single mp3, if that's possible.

  • Wow, this video was less than useless. We can click on menu items and read tooltips ourselves. You have shown us nothing and taken 5.3 minutes to do so. Why don't you show something useful that can be done in Ubuntu Studio?
