My 12 year old black lab has this, we have had her on prednizone for two months with no improvement, I'm not sure what else to do here! Any advice would be great, she is eating well but cant drink well and has lost 5 pounds.

My heart goes out to you & your red 'kids'. Thanks for bringing this to the attention of Vizsla owners everywhere - hopefully we can prevent further cases with selective breeding, & aid the research into treatment of myositis. Hugs to your red girls.

This happened to my vizlsa when he was sick with cancer, not the same problem as yours because it was related to him being sick, but if it helps, he would let us give him water with a large medicine eyedropper. They sell them at drug stores. He would lay on his side and I would hold open his lip and drop in whole droppers full of water. He would let us give him a whole bowl that way. Maybe you could try that? You can mix electolytes with the water to prevent dehydration. Good luck.

thank you terri - and I hope others read your suggestion. Our vizslas' major problem is that they have difficulties with "swallowing" so even where their tongues do manage to convey food/water to the back of the mouth then they proceed to "choke" because the swallowing mechanisms are so impaired. Sorry to hear about your vizsla boy - we love them so much eh? thanks again Di
