This is an animation commissioned by the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (thanks to the creativity of David Osti) that depicts the landscape of the Delta prior to levee construction and how the levees evolved the region from the Gold Rush era to the 1930s. Narration by Metropolitan's Tom Philp, whose commentary on SFgate.com's City Brights section can be found here: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/tphilp/index
