Ay! Rip my heart out, Fritzi!!!! Such an inner equipoise. His diction, singing and acting were all so perfectly integrated. One of the great tragedies that he was lost right before his Met debut! Even though this is not "echt" because it's not in the correct vernacular, his quiet pathos is breathtaking. And do you hear how absolute his control of color and volume are throughout his range? His voice is pure putty in his hands, responding at will to the dictates of his emotions!!! Just otherworldy

So very beautiful.

Absolut einverstanden. Deutsche Sprache passt leider keineswegs zu dieser Arie. Wunderlich singt sehr gut, kann aber nichts dagegen tun. Hört Lemeshev und vergleicht! Lemeshev ist unerreichbar…

He should have been cloned! (a thousand times!)
Thank you!
Just because you don't run around the stage like a headless chicken, it doesn't mean you aren't an actor. In fact, the measure of a truly great actor is the ability to hold one's audience spellbound without the least movement. Look at Callas! Do you think she ever ran around the stage? No! As an opera singer, she let her voice do it for her. Same with Wunderlich, in this particular case. And it's a soliloquy, for crying out loud! How much do you expect to move when you're doing a monologue?

The world lost this jewel far too early. This gem has not yet been replaced. Bravo! TY.
