On a snowy January morning the Midland Railway Johnson 4-4-2 pulling a light load of wagons braves the brisk weather conditions. This is a handbuilt 10mm/ft scale live steam model made by Jon Tomoumian, Lee Barrett and Pete Comley, on the Sunset Valley Railroad in sunny(!)Seattle.

  • There is one main loop, 700 ft long, with a 200ft passing siding on the elevated section. A second loop, 24ft diameter has a dual gauge track. This is not connected to the main loop.

  • The Midland Railway kept single driver locos until the 20th century, they were the last to stop using them.

  • hw did you build this layout witch you can snowplow trains with it?

  • A very nice train there. BTW, from what I gather, is your outdoor garden railway a series of 3 loops that are interconnected?
