THE PROJECT (summarized version):
Colour is given by the materials: The white from the paper lamps, rich in transparencies acting as a structure, and on the other hand the layers of torn newspapers, searching to give central attention to the drawings, coming as an intuitive gesture of the hand tearing the paper. The strength of the sketch would be in the torn paper and within all the possible diversity: each hand tears differently, The unconscious reinforced over and over again, both with organic figures in which we recognize a frog, a cat, etc. or in abstract figures where we see a black line, the texture, a stain, a calligraphic concept in itself...
A MONUMENT BY THE COMMUNITY -- MULTIPLIER EFFECT:
Inspired by the COBRA concept of "collective art", this experimental project is based on the process as much as on the product, if not more. It is a process of free workshops whereby a figurative artist shares this creative space with an abstract artist, a child creates his personal fauna sharing it with an engineer, with a housewife and with a student, as well as with a business woman. We all come together in the building of this painting body, volatile, hanging, ephemeral, where a phenomenon similar to the soap bubbles takes place: the rising of an infinity of playful bubbles that rise to the sky, creating multiple ethereal figures visible with the light.
The bubbles are in this sense a space proposal that seeks to break the laws of gravity of a surrounding city at times stiff, with the freshness of a child that blows, laughs and runs after soap bubbles, and an entire community which follows her and starts blowing too: merging play with imagination and the collective act all at once...
FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS:
1. Continue to consolidate the social weave through the building of the bubbles, inviting to the Atelier both children and adults in Amstelveen (and beyond) from multicultural backgrounds who wish to experiment, building a creative material of big proportions to be installed in its whole.
2. Starting with space experimentations and through a playful approach visualize multiple possibilities to hang the bubbles in the exhibition space, in order to gradually build maps that suggest, but do not impose on the imagination.
The bubbles will dance in a playful way, revealing their own needs at the moment of the installation, flowing asymmetrically in an informal and nomad way, escaping all square mind and rational control.
3. The final objective is the building of a space with a great collective painting body, human and animal at the same time, as A LIFE MONUMENT CONTINUOSLY MOVING AND ALWAYS BREATHING AND UNFINISHED, WHICH MANAGES TO GO BEYOND BOUNDARIES, COUNTRIES, AND AGES.
