I was getting desperate, I had to FILM something. So I hooked up with a guy named Troy who I had never met before, got my cousin, and this crazy Scottish chick I had never met before, and we decided to shoot a chase scene. For fun.

It is quite unfinished and that shot of the door being opened should be thrown away as it was only a camera rehearsal and there's a bounce in the background. Our good cut ended up running out of tape room, so this is just filler.

Personally, I wish I had more closer shots of feet running, facing expressions, etc. but we were shooting fast due to the sun going down. As you can see it got progressively dark pretty fast. Some backyard fence hopping, tripping, falling into bushes, would have been nice but our non-actors didn't really sign up for that. Anyways, this isn't something I'll be putting on my demo reel but I thought most of the camera work turned out okay.

  • pretty cool...of most of the shorts i've seen the chase scenes would be so much more professional with steady camera angles...is there some kind of fairly cheap mobile tripod for short filmers to buy? hell, strap some wheels on a tripod. if there isnt a product like this lets make one

  • There's more than one way to shoot something like this. Shakey footage, like 24, BSG, The Shield, etc. gives a more dynamic feel to the footage, and it can make things feel a little bit more realistic to the viewer, as it sees it more like the human eye sees it. bit more believeable to the viewer. I could've gone tripod but wanted that loose shakey feeling. Even the misfocusing was intentional. Thanks for the comments!

  • very nicw chase scene i would love to add some 3run to it....pece dagenham 3run crew...check it out

  • Man this is good.. I like it. The only thing is the music. Try something else. Pretty good scenery tho. Ive been shooting with a Canon HV20 in 25fps Ciné mode.. Even tho its a consumer type camera i get really nice quality.

  • That was awesome.

  • Thats pretty cool. The filmer did pretty good frame shots and angles, alil shakey but, satisfactory. best thing i used to for a chase scene and any action shot is the sony vx2100 or Cannon XL they have good Steady Shot on those cameras. Plus Cannon XL you can get this lens adapter that shoots film like. ive seen it, its badass. well im out. Keep up the work, i like. I should be filming my short/music video/silent film SOOON! its called Long Systematic Disaster.
