This is the function of dancing in tamilnadu just before the body of a hindu humanbeing is taken to the crematorium. Hindus believe that the dead should be sent to heaven without any sorrows & thats why they are giving him/her a happy voyage. This dancing is followed by the procession taking the body on a "MANCHAM" (nothing but a carrier on which the body lied straight & is carried on shoulder by 4 men) or on a small manual pulling car & those who heading the procession will shower flowers / rose petals throughout the way. that is giving him/her a path to crematorium filled with flowers.
