Just had the light tunnel replaced by local Samsung repair contractors. The light tunnel fix made the TV look great. But now we've got this buzz coming from the rear of the TV (near the lamp) when the TV is turned off and then back on too quickly.

-----

If the TV isn't fully shut down before powering it back up, this buzz comes from the TV as it fires up and stays on until the lamp shuts down.

However, when you let the TV shutdown completely, the buzz never kicks on.

  • just replaced the bulb in our 52" toshiba again only to realize the ballast is also out...same buzzing noise ...I told her we should chuck it, but she likes it sooooo...now I'm looking for a new ballast as well..lol

  • @horseman1968 Yea, I'm waiting until we move before I do anymore work on ours. Such a pain.

  • Our Samsung DLP just started making that exact same buzz sound, sometimes so loud that it interferes with the audio of the tv. What did you end up doing? We already spent $300 replacing a blown out lamp last year and hate to put more money into this tv.

  • @seehere3937 Nothing since it is very intermittent now. As annoying as it is I can usually stop the buzz if we bump the TV a certain way. Our couch is far enough away now that we don't even hear it. I guess I'm just lazy. :P

  • I had the same problem on my 26in samsung, and this morning my tv wouldnt turn on at all, I was told it was a bad coil or something, and my warranty is expired :( it was only a $400 tv so I think I will just throw it out and get a new one.

  • @LBGreenthumb Bummer. Ours was a little more than that, and I've heard so many explanations for this that I'm not sure what to believe. We still have the buzzing noise every once and a while, but the TV still works.

  • I have a Samsung 60" plasma and it does the same thing, only much louder. It has gotten worse and worse over the past few months, so bad that my stereo speakers (routed through a receiver) have loud buzzing constantly. I am an avid A/V guru, and have tried switching out cords and everything you can think of to fix this problem, and I still get loud buzzing because the TV is interfering with my entire stereo setup. This has nothing to do with bulbs or anything else, it is a plasma problem.

  • I just paid to have my color wheel & bulb replaced and after a day of having my tv home I have been hearing this buzzing noise.. how do i fix this?

  • I bought my 64 inch Samsung DLP about 4 years ago, of course I opted out on the extended warrenty! Allmost a week to the day that the warrenty ran out the bulb blew! $115, replaced myself, not to bad? Things were peachy till I turned on the TV and had an error message that read "fan 2 not working properly". Then the tv shut off? I troubleshot it down to the fan that cools the lamp, not the one on the pc. Problem is it's in the front and I cant get it out? Any ideas? FYI it makes the same noise?

  • WHAT THE FUCK WERE YOU WATCHING? LOL JK

  • @SteveSabbai Plasma Technology has been around for well over 20 years now you know? Most of the issues that occur with plasma is really found commonly in the cheaper TV's. Not that the expensive higher end name brand ones don't have there issues but the issues don't start to pop up until the TV is around 6 years old. Even then plasma has a lower repair cost among all TV technologies and has less failures. As of right now Plasma is second best in colour reproduction and saturation next to LaserTV

  • @NerdForMIT ...ive done my research on what type of tv i should buy and it will be a Plasma sooner or later but my Sony 36" still has a few good years left so hopefully by then all these problems will be fixed by the manufacturers of plasma tvs...

  • @SteveSabbai Only cheap plasma's buzz but the real good brands such as the older sony's and Panasonics are very good. Plasma in my opinion pro and personally is the best, reason being is they have less failures and they are cheaper to fix, the burn in will only occur if you display the same image for a long period of time. My plasma is 8 years old and the only burn in is cause of the ratio from the previous owner but it's not that noticeable. anyway's dlp is costly and lcd has it's issues

  • ...i was planning on getting a plasma but i have been reading ALOT of reviews online about "buzzin" problems from plasma owners. most tech savvy websites say it is normal for it to buzz but plasma owners have been finding out that the buzz is caused by something that might be loose inside the tv like screws or fans or could be a software issue.
