http://zennie62blog.com/2011/12/11/us-armys-caleb-campbell-nfl-kansas-city-ch... - In the 7th Round of the 2008 NFL Draft a huge cheer erupted from the small-compared-to-Day-One crowd and it was for a little-known cadet who also played football for Army. Caleb Campbell, who was drafted by the Detroit Lions in that last round. As that happened I talked to Dr. Bill Chackhes who gave me the details on Campbell's story. Caleb basically deferred going to Iraq as a officer after he is to graduate with the current Army class of 2008. The Army is allowing him to play in the NFL.

Everyone was enthusiastic to meet the man Bill called "The All American Boy" and this video captures that moment.

Most hope not to see combat, But somebody has to do it. so we can sit back and argue about it, while their there. LOVE EVERY ONE OF EM. AIRBORNE. go lionsssssssssssssssssssssssss

  • who's the asshole calling him tevin campbell?

  • @jammertime33 Guys, don't forget what the process was. The thing that got me mad was that the Army decided the rule that you are talking about exactly a week before Caleb was to report to Lions training camp. My only beef is that The Army should have let Caleb know before, not after, reporting to Lion's training camp.

  • well this is why the academy sports programs will never be top contenders. they are primarily academic schools. stick to that. stop fuckin with peoples emotions and let them know when they get in there, they are in there to serve. not get drafted. if he wanted to play football, he shouldnt have went to west point. I played 4 years college baseball and two in the minors.... and am now in the airforce. so play the game right if you dont want to end up on the dumbshit list.

  • @jdawgisback lions just offered him a contract today

  • He will be able to play in 2010.

But he is not under contract with the Lions anymore.

  • he plays linebacker for the golden knights?

that guy needs his ass kicked

  • My Pirates signed two baseball players from Army. They reported to State College and played a few games before the army took them back.

  • its a shame they let this happen..to give a kid like that a million dollar job and then say...nah...ship him..dont let that loophole open

  • comment me back

want to chat with singles jR

  • this shouldn't be too much of a shock to Caleb. Kyle Eckel graduated from Navy in 2005 played for New England in the preseason but didn't make the last cut to the 55 man team. he was able to do this while "working" at the Naval Academy Prep School in Newport. he went to Norfolk until May 2007 where he was released by the Navy to train with the Dolphins for the summer before coming back to New England.
