How the heck does this ad appeal to voters' intelligence any more than today's ads?
"I'd rather that campaign ads say nothing rather than something I disagree with."
What rot!

unfortunately... It actually irrational for people to be following politics, that is why direct democracy will never work.

Because of the law, interestingly.
Advertising campaigns -directly- in support of candidates are restricted by donation laws and such, whereas ads that defame the opponent aren't restricted so much.

not surprising. the two parties were basically the opposite of what they are now.

You should look at the daisy girl video, they still did it back then, but I agree, this kind of commercial is much better.

yeah, i mean they never tell anyone why we should vote for them. they only tell us why we shouldnt vote for the other guy. (even though alot of it is slanted truth. if someone voted against a bill that would fund education because it was cutting funding for healthcare to pay for it, and it only funded certain schools instead of all schools, his opponent will say "he voted AGAINST education...he does not care about our childrens future")

lol, yeah the 2012 election was really sad, democrats and republicans (and epuban vs publians in the primaries) really bitter and personal attacks. It all started with the reagan campaign in '80, since then its al gone downhill.

its funny, if the republican party would stop being so damn stubborn and quit thinking just about themselves and go back to how they used to be (before reagan ruined the party), they would gain so much more support
all the old school republicans who have outstanding views (gary johnson, ron paul, etc.) keep getting kicked out infavor of the insane whackjobs (romney, santorum, etc.)
the libertarian party now is what the republican party used to be (also where paul, johnson, etc. all leave for)
