In mid to late March, Russian experts airdrop fuel, equipment, a tractor and personnel to build a camp at the Geographic North Pole. A runway is carved into the ice for specialist AN-74TK-100 planes to land. The camp, known as Barneo, accommodates North Pole Marathon contestants during their marathon adventure. At the end of April, the camp is closed and the equipment is taken away until the following year.
