Replacing the water pump on a 1998 Ford Taurus with the standard 3.0l OHV V6. After 228,000 miles, I'm replacing the water pump because the engine doesn't maintain the proper running temperature.

oh i see. mine sometimes squals in the mornings when it's cold but when the car warms up it seem to stop. wonder why this is?

@cardolthe; I think it would. I don't think there is very much difference in the years as far as how the water pump is assembled to the engine.

why was the steering pump making all that noise? does it stop after the car warms up or do u have to fix it?

@mamas4turd4sniffer; it did that because I forgot to put power steering fluid back in it, and got some air in the system. After I put fluid in it and let it run, it bled itself and quit making noise.
