Samba de Riga was established in the summer of 2006th, creators, and social foundations of this activity led Girts Kalnins and Anton Dudko. Samba de Riga is a very new project, but the group already performed @ 8th World Music Festival Porta, in a large open multi-stage festival Laba Daba, multiple awards and celebrations. Its original composition lines have managed to change now, band director role has assumed Matīss Akuraters, band director will assume the following tasks: run a group, staged and selected repertoire and is responsible for the purely practical questions. Samba de Riga is percussive group, which plays a variety of rhythms from different regions of Brazil. Matīss recently returned from Brazil, where the 3-month training was complemented his knowledge of Brazilian percussion. Samba from Riga plays Samba Batucada, Samba Reggae, Baiao, Maracatu, etc. Brazilian rhythms. Composition: Matīss Akuraters (repinique, bacurinha), Artjem (Agogo, surdo), Kristaps Krolls (1,2nd surdo, caixa), Maria Dunce (plays all instr.) Nukri (Agogo, surdo, caixa, chocalho), Austra Hauks (tambor, repique ), Gunta Thompson (tambor, caixa), Ilja Šneveiss (caixa, repique, 3rd surdo), Linda (Agogo).
