  • @maltblossom He did indeed support the cover band's efforts. I have a picture of him, backstage with the current lineup. He just loved music so much - he didn't care who was playing it, as long as they did. I miss my Dad very, very much. I love to see comments on here - it's like he's still around. Cheers.

  • This is not the original Band. Perry Ford was my brother in Law. one of the others was called Johnny Shakespear and was related to the playwrite. I forget the name of the other one. They all stayed at my Mothers House in 1961 I am a drummer and I played with the Yorkshire Jazz Band at the time and that night we both had gigs in Liverpool . mine was at the Cavern with the Beatles as support group and the Ivy league played at the Iron Door.

  • Leslie is my Uncle. Still lives near Manchester.

  • @Yorkshiredrummer

Dear Yorkshire Drummer. I knew Mark Ford and Charlotte when we were children together. Is there any chance that you would be able to put us in touch? I spent a lot of time with your sister Sharron and Perry your Brother in Law when they lived in Kent, before they moved to the USA. I live in Yorkshire now. Regards Carina

  • Who the hells this lot, masquerading as the ivy league, they must have bought the rites to the name

  • Anyone concected to this wonderful group should be extremely proud, they provided a musical backdrop to people growing up in the 60s, and you had to be really good to survive back then with so may great artists around. So may I say thanks for all the memories that your family gave to thousands of people with their own very special brand of music.

  • ONCE WATCHED A NORTHWEST GROUP CALLED THE CRESTAS, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE GUITARIST WITH THE HIGH VOICE NAMED LESLIE SANG WITH THE IVY LEAGUE DURING THE 60S HE HAD A GREAT VOICE AND HARMONIES DONT KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO THEM THINK THEY WERE FROM MANCHESTER.

  • saw the at WIDNES brilliant ,and very funny [ drummer].

  • Its always a pity when one of the original group passes away, but thats life especially with the 60's groups. They cannot go on forever, its a pity that they cannot. Music will never be as good.

  • @spikelet Hi Spike

  • @Yorkshiredrummer if that is true - it is a pitty and should be puished. An insult to the true Ivy league - gods singing ... But the song amd intention is good !!
