Thank goodness for the foresight of the U.S. government! They always think of everything! The bunker has private rooms, a five year supply of food, and an infestation of killer vampire bats. As a cost saving measure, the underground lair was installed in a pre-existing New Mexican cave where the original inhabitants aren't too pleased about sharing the real estate. The new residents are a varied lot of scientists, athletes, artists, and a lone businessman; proving that cockroaches and capitalists will survive the Apocalypse.
Wow.. I saw this in the drive-in when I was 10. It left an impression.. I looked for it for a long time. Killer ending on this one. It really must have hit me, 'cause I remember some of these scenes, especially the elevator shaft.. I'd love to see it again. I'd also like to see a remake... they could make the bats diseased or something that explains why people die as quickly as they do or from so few bites... which I think was probably the movies biggest flaw. Thanks for posting it.
