- Countable nouns have both a singular and plural form, and refers to something that can be counted. -

EXAMPLE: The geese were excited because the boy continued to throw them crumbs. - -Noncountable nouns do not have plural forms, and refer to something that cannot be counted. -

EXAMPLE: Nothing made Curtis happier than bad poetry. -

  • When an uncountable noun is thought of as being a normal portion (cup, bottle, glass) or a type (american cheese, swiss cheese) you can change them to countable....You can say "I would like 2 coffees"...you can also say "My favorite cheeses are American and Swiss" !!!
